The benefits of being outside with nature.

The benefits of being out with nature and the abundance of flora and fauna and nature arrives if we allow our selves to be in the present.
Our mindfulness meditation and conservation Solo days will allow you to participate in this stilling of the mind.

For calm and true reflection, contemplation and Introspection seeing nature with flora and fauna and also the local wildlife that is fulfilling and that's why Bird watching is a very meditative activity.
Birders spend lots of time in the quiet of the great outdoors without the easy indulgence of distractions.

Bird watching is a great opportunity to reflect on your life or to just zone out and think calming thoughts. Meditation has been shown to slow the decay of your brain’s grey matter, which happens naturally as we age.

Assessing the great outdoors by yourself or with others for a Solo Day would be a valuable use of your resources and could promote team building. Getting out into the fresh air which is great for the mind, body, and soul, is a good building block for you to future proof your own life and to take an inventory of your life's decisions.

Keeping the mind active and healthy and being present in nature is a great way to connect with your inner child in the same way of being able to give back through some light meditative tasks.

Providing a change of scenery is therapeutic and allows time and space from your worries and woes, allowing yourself to redirect your own personal, solution provision.

Our first Solo Day of the year.

It's great to finally get back to Lime tree Farm for our first Solo Day of the year.

The place is really coming alive on the nature reserve as Norman, our raw food expert, who has been busy felling trees to allow natural light to low photosynthesis to have a greater effect, tending and shaping the allotment for Spring and is growing crops to eat for our grow cook eat program.

We helped move a couple of things across the farm where some other volunteers are moving the forge from the outbuildings to create a place and make a workable forge, for artisan things to be crafted and made of use around the Farm and this is great.

Sarah the ecologist wanted a caravanette top moving and we all helped out to place it on a trailer bound for the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland.
We are clearing a space for Martin and the astrology team to make a planetarium.

It was a pleasure to help move comprised willow from the iron age roundhouse where we practiced meditation and mindfulness through conservation.

Lunch was perfect.

We used grappling hooks to move bindweed from the ponds in order for the newts and frogspawn to have a greater effect this spring. After the stilling of the mind in the stone circle and vow of silence, we witnessed one of the Barn owl chicks hunting at dusk, it was magical. It really is soul food.

Dry January and Beyond/2019.

This January we at ABC are available to help you in this resolution and ask, could you do Dry January and extend to February too, as thousands of adults in the UK already take part in Dry January.

Starting on the first day of the month, participants vow to go 31 days without alcohol as a resolution that has been previously endorsed by Cancer Research UK and Alcohol Change UK.

ABC provides a great space to come and have some time out to discuss with you an extension to this as a concept.

Why not?

Reasons for taking part have been documented, with people focussing on the health benefits, including weight loss, decreased risk of diseases including cancer and improvements to mental health. But what about an extension is it worth it?

Could I do it?

Yes you could do it. You could easily calculate the calories and money you could be saving, as well as monitor your year-round drinking habits by starting with an extra month as well as placing yourself in the mindset of people who have abstained due to dependency issues.

Tips for those who need a little help staying on the wagon include going on long walks, taking up a hobby or trying a non-alcoholic version of your favourite drink or try cleaning and washing up to keep extra busy.

Is it really worth it?

The benefits of Dry January are the subject of an ongoing debate among doctors and scientists as recent reports are from Alcohol Change UK who report that in 2018, “88% of participants saved money, 71% had better sleep and more energy, and 58% lost weight”.

Give it a go.

Call us on 07851448812 to book a consultation at our gatherings, to swap information and ideas and to plan for the extra month and talk about your feelings, that such a challenge brings up.

We look forward to talking with you soon.

Darkness to Light.

Winter Solstice 2018.

The road to celebrate the winter solstice at the farm was lit by the moon and the night was mild and it was raining.

When there is so much conflict in life, we struggle and become empty. Visiting the nature reserve we had to concentrate on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.

Shelter, food, warmth as well as this Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper used the terms "physiological," "safety," "belonging and love," or "social needs" "esteem," and "self-actualization" to describe the pattern through which human motivations generally move.

So we practiced meditation and mindfulness to be able to cook food and warm drinks. As a group we bonded and laughed and shared Christmas carols as we waited for the sun to rise and go from darkness to light. We then observed our vow of silence to leave negative thoughts and feelings behind as we all prepared to be positive and peaceful through the festive season and into 2019.

We had a great time and hope you do also, if you choose to come to this magical place at Lime tree farm on one of our Solo days or other events.

Seasons Greetings.

Season’s greetings from all of us at ABC.

Yesterday we were at Lime tree farm, wreath making to brighten up the festive yuletide season.
The holidays are just around the corner and fast approaching.
Decorating your home to get into the festive mood can be a daunting task, and it all starts with deciding whether you prefer natural decorating elements or artificial. In fact when you decide to decorate with fresh Christmas wreaths, it was a great way to get into the holiday spirit in its entirety!

Live wreaths can be a bit more cumbersome and expensive than their artificial counterparts, but they do offer a great number of advantages. It was a great day chatting and sharing about love, life and the year gone by remembering friends old and new and also people who have passed.

What a great day.

We decorated the round house in preparation of our gathering to mark the WINTER SOLSTICE from Midnight of the 20th December through to our planned hour’s vow of silence in the stone circle.

Please contact Darrell 07851448812 to book. The evening is priced at £15.00 all monies go towards self funding our project for events to come and our vision of building a treehouse in the future.

Winter Solstice Event 2018.

ABC Invite you to share in the winter solstice and festive season on Midnight Thursday 20th December to Friday 21st at dawn for an hours vow of silence.

The shortest day and longest night of the year inspire mystical celebrations, both old and new, in anticipation of the sun’s return.

In 2018 in the northern hemisphere, the winter solstice is Friday December 21st with our gathering at 7.23am in the stone circle with a vow of silence to watch the sunrise at 8.23am and be at peace.

Remember, the days just get longer from here!

A spiritual gathering of like minded individuals who want to mark the festive season in a more natural way with mindfulness and meditation petitions for the coming year, singing, and storytelling are also part of the festivities, so what you can bring to share will be appreciated.

Your ABC experience will incorporate pagan winter solstice celebrations marked by a small bonfire to burn a Yule time tide log and food. After the solstice, the abundance of darkness in winter often associated with SAD, Seasonal Affective Disorder, the northern hemisphere will begin to be balanced with the light of the sun and we are gathering to celebrate this.

We will be gathering again for our 3rd year to celebrate this magical evening to say goodbye to the end of shorter days and the victory of light over darkness along with others around the world with other winter celebrations.

We will meet from midnight on Thursday 20th until dawn at

Please bring warm waterproof clothes and boots.

Priced at £15.00, all monies go to help sustain our conservation work on the nature reserve throughout the New Year 2019 and would be the perfect alternative gift / donations.

Please call Daz 07851448812 to book.

We would especially like to thank all our volunteers some that are currently oversees for all their hard work dedication in our long term goal of fund raising and building a treehouse and of course Pete and Irene for this special place.
