GREAT NEWS.

BREAKING NEWS: The Regional Finalists for 2017 have been announced.

“Thank you to everyone who nominated in the Countryside Alliance Awards. We really appreciate the time and effort you took to tell us about your favourite rural businesses. We know how much it means to those businesses who are nominated by their loyal customers.

With over 11,000 nominations it has been our most successful year ever, which made shortlisting an impossible task. It took days to read every nomination and whittle them down to our Regional Finalists 2017

but we are pleased to say we have done it!"

Hi everyone.

Great news!

We've made it into the regional finals for the countryside alliance awards. From all of us at
ABC  we would like to say a special thanks to everyone who took the time to support our nomination. Without your support, we would not have made it this far towards a very prestigious award.

Please keep supporting our project in any way you can; spread the word or come yourself to experience time and space first hand. We are trying to make a difference to people's lives, taking time to learn conservation skills under the guidance of the owners of Lime Tree Farm, Peter and Irene Foster. I am eternally grateful to them for all of their support, trust, generosity and true friendship. I want to say a special thank you to them.

We are continuing to inspire professionals, who may be approaching burn-out, via our Time and Space retreats, Solo days courses and 1 to 1 bespoke coaching sessions. They get to practice and learn meditation and mindfulness; we'll continue to help them recharge and re-evaluate through important conservation works at the beautiful Lime Tree Farm nature reserve in North Yorkshire
.

That's our update! – Thank you for reading.

Sincere Christmas greetings from all at ABC.
We are looking forward with real hope and belief to what we can achieve together in 2018.

Daz.

ABC is a finalist for the Countryside Alliance Awards.

We are delighted to announce that ABC has been shortlisted to win a Countryside Alliance Award in the RURAL category.

The Awards are the Countryside Alliance’s annual celebration of British food & farming, enterprise, and heritage through our small hard-working businesses. The awards are now in their thirteenth year and have become the definitive rural business award to win. They are set apart from other award schemes because they are driven by public nomination, offering customers the chance to tell us why their favourite businesses are worthy of national acclaim. The awards received over eleven thousand nominations this year so ABC  has done extremely well to be shortlisted.

Countryside Alliance Awards Director Sarah Lee commented:
“We have been overwhelmed by nominations this year. The secret to the Rural Oscars’ popularity is that they honour the people involved in these businesses and not just their product or services. They exist to sing the praises of those who work hard to keep our communities and rural economy ticking, but don’t seek the spotlight. These awards provide a cause for celebration in a time of great uncertainty in the countryside. Our local produce is second to none and there are many community heroes and businesses worthy of national recognition.”

Winter Solstice Event 2017.

ABC Invite you to join us for an hour of silent contemplation during the Winter solstice on December 21st, at Lime tree Farm, Hutts Lane, Ripon HG4 3DA. We will meet at 7.30 am and gather to prepare for an hour's reflection at 8.22am till 9.22am.

The winter solstice, during the shortest day of the year, marks the moment when the sun is at its most southern point in the daytime sky, directly over the Tropic of Capricorn. The solstice has been celebrated for thousands of years, and many of the traditions now associated with Christmas (for example the Christmas tree) had their roots in winter solstice celebrations.

ABC is offering the chance to celebrate yuletide, practising a mindfulness-based approach as alternative to the hustle and bustle and commercialism of the festive season; time and space to truly reflect with others on your internal frame of reference and share your feelings in and around this wonderful experience and venue.

The cost is £17.50 per person.

All monies go towards generating funds for ABC to continue to help people (or professionals aiding people) with chemical dependency issues to work towards our long term ecological goals (building a tree house, constructing a polytunnel, maintaining the environment) in this wonderful and enchanting place.

This opportunity represents a unique experience, a "back-to-basics" approach to meditation and mindfulness in the spirit of finding oneself in nature. We always honour the ethos of the site; we leave only footprints. Please bring clothing appropriate to British winter time.

We are raising finances to carry out works on the site that complement the existing and renowned stone circle, bird hide and observatory. Owners Peter and Irene Foster are focused on the farm being a special place for people to retreat to and heal.

We do hope you can make it..... And tell others. We want  to spread the word .

To book a place text your name and contact details to Darrell (Daz) on 07851448812

or email  me timeandspaceretreats@gmail.com

Also it would be great if you forward this invite to anyone else you think might want to join in.

Thank you.  This means so much to us ...and we know it will to you too once you have experienced this special time and space.

Merry Christmas

From Daz and all at ABC.

And so we wait...

Addiction Behavioural Consultants would like to express our sincere gratitude, to all
Who supported our nomination for the countryside alliance award for rural categories.

We were thrilled initially to receive the nomination and wanted to take the time to express our thanks for all your support, kind words and sharing our link. The extended time for nominations has helped us share our project and programme details to a greater audience of people such as yourselves; so thank you. Our work comes from a sense of vocation, to work closely with nature to carry out this specialised work.

The kindness of the owners Pete and Irene of Lime tree farm allows us to be a part of this beautiful space.

We now await the outcome of the votes.

Winter solo day Review.

I am writing this review with what can only be described as one of the best experiences of my time in recovery. I have been  abstinent for quite a few years now, one day at a time.

I also wish to say thank you as it would not have been possible but for three of my Pals and the owners of Lime Tree Farm who have been so generous in their own way with what they have.

This is an amazing spiritual place and there is so much to see and offer to a long term recovering addict like me .
At the start of the day I spent a tranquil hour observing the wildlife which really lent itself to what was to come, building a fire from scratch and cooking on it, I had a amazing cup of tea with such flavour it was very good.
We then went to the Round house and did Meditation around our breathing and going beyond ourselves.

We then went to sample delicious hot soup and bread followed by a walk along a different path and stopped off at the hide to feed the wildlife. Darrell was talking to me about the plans he envisioned at the retreat and I could really see how they could become reality with the help from like minded people of which there is already quite a few, We came back after this to eat our Stone baked Pizza which was cooked in a magnificent stone oven next to the roundhouse.

After this we went to the tree conservation field where we planted my strong young sapling ASH tree this was an extra special moment for me as I dedicated it to My best friend Mary who had died recently, it was a beautiful moment that means so much.

Lastly we had an hours silence in the stone circle and the ending of the day was upon us.

Having had time to reflect and CONNECT to the power that I believe in and after being in such a sacred place,
I find there are no words that would do my Solo day justice, it was AMAZING.

Thank you to all who helped to get me to LIME TREE FARM, what a day, with love and gratitude, Marie.

An Autumn update.

The Autumn weekend on 28th October 2017 was spent doing the things Abc has to do in making the space viable. Liaising and spending valuable one to one time with Peter and Irene which is always nourishing for the soul at Earth and Sky at lime tree farm.

We looked at the bird tallies from John the bird ringer who had just been, which is a very comical process seeing birds being weighed in.

A yellow browed warbler has been seen at Lime tree farm not usually seen so far inland and is generally seen on the east coast.

Housekeeping, taking inventory and cleaning the sheds up and tidying the lock ups and tools to prepare to build an office space in the future for Abc.
We are preparing to look at Winter solo days for the hardy of travellers and perhaps some star gazing at the observatory.

Please see a picture of the cosmic couch there is no experience like a night on the cosmic couch so book on Solo days to enjoy the wonderful benefits of mindfulness and meditation and conservation to a beautiful space.

Our grow cook and eat programme.

Yesterday 14th October 2017, at the retreat we had a visit from a gardening expert from South Yorkshire who has looked at our shared space allotment - community garden with a view to helping  us at Addiction Behavioural Consultants, to plan out, our grow cook and eat programme for spring 2018 and to get a feel of what this could look like in the future with help from like minded individuals.
Grow cook and eat is going to be central to our programme for 2018 of mindfulness, helping people to understand the importance of the value of healthy serotonin levels  for a healthier lifestyle in the recovery from chemical dependency one day at a time as a social enterprise.
Yesterday's alternative meditation was by the installation of 2 taps to the farm by practising time and space and completing the task through breathing. We also took down the tipi for the winter. We are now introducing winter solo days for the hardy of travellers on the journey of self discovery.
                                        * * *
We again want to thank Peter and Irene for their vision of letting us use this space to deliver meditation and mindfulness to like minded individuals.

Nature at its Best.

Revive your serotonin levels.

Come for lunch at Solo days and help revive your serotonin levels with hydration nutrition mindfulness and meditation through conservation on one of our 1 day Solo day taster courses or a Time and Space weekend.

Serotonin is vital for controlling our mood and sleep patterns.

The pace of modern life and some fast foods don't help us with getting and keeping our levels stable. Many people feel the lack of Serotonin particularly in the winter months and can find they suffer from S.A.D.

We at ABC know and understand the vital link between food and our bodies and mind and therefore on the weekend Time and Space events or your Solo day, we provide you with Serotonin boosting foods which are sourced locally and are organic. This we believe looks after the body as we work with you on your Mindfulness and Meditation. All the food we serve on your retreat is plentiful, colourful, delicious and very good for you.

Reviews.

If you are at a time in your life and need to step away from the horrors of life, I have.

The best formula is to do just that. Lime tree Farm and Solo days, to me last Saturday was just that, and it feels a world away from my real mundane life, l have been there many times last summer and now in the Autumn.
I like the great outdoors in this green and pleasant land, and Solo days is my world away and has helped me through some tough times of late. I have taken the time to visit Daz and the team, to be still and when I look around at lime tree and nature I feel peace.

I find in going to this special place reminds me of how we all could live peacefully. Solo days have helped me to remind myself of the need to take stock of my everyday day life. If you like conservation, I helped out rebuilding a Barn door, I liked participating in this small task of helping put a plank of wood to stop a door being damaged further by helping repair this on the farm. This filled me with a great sense of achievement in the thoughts of knowing I did this.

These thoughts are warming to the soul knowing I have given just a little something back to the project. This gives a whole new meaning to my life as things have been tough for me in my personal life. I have done knowing I can go back to nature feeling good about myself. I feel I can be there with other participants with breathing activities, or have, time, to just being there with myself as I have in the past to feel well and to just sit back and relax and take a deep breath and experience this positive place at Lime Tree farm.

Hi everyone, I wanted to share this with anyone contemplating booking a Solo day At Lime Tree Farm. Lime tree farm is in a beautiful location and an idyllic setting, I am grateful that the owners put so much care into their land to give people like me the opportunity to relax among nature at its best.

I saw the Solo day’s website and was attracted to the idea of it. I was rather apprehensive about doing any of this sort of thing as I'm 60 years young now and a bit creaky, to say the least. I certainly didn't know what to expect but I liked the idea of a single 'taster day' which includes mindfulness and meditation. I loved the idea of doing a small bit of conservation too, so I decided to book a date and give it a try.

The day which started at 10am until 4pm far exceeded my expectations. My friend and I were made extremely welcome and the ABC solo days team made us feel very relaxed, involved and at home.
The Meditation and Mindfulness exercises were easy to follow and I felt that I could incorporate them into my daily living when I get home.

The Conservation work was planting trees which thrilled me, a member of the team did the digging for which I was grateful.

We contributed to the building of some steps which we had great fun with and our input to its design was welcomed. It is very satisfying to be able to contribute back to nature.
We spent about an hour in the centre of the Stone Circle meditating, being silent and listening to the birds sing. I felt that I owed myself this moment.
We did fire lighting which was really fun. This was near the Roundhouse which again was an enjoyable experience and calming.
I was surprised how much food there was and being vegetarian we were catered for too.
I would recommend anyone who might consider doing this to book a date and go. I was very pleasantly surprised. I know that a weekend course is available and I shall be booking a weekend in the near future.

I can honestly say that I feel my Mind, Body, and Spirit have been recharged again. A Beautiful day was had.
A BIG thank you to the team, Darrell, Tony, and Dave.

Thank you to Lime tree farm.

Mrs. Susan Thornton.  17/09/2017.

I went along to Solo days not really knowing what to expect. The brief was mindfulness, meditation, and conservation ... lunch included!!

After a lovely drive through the Dales to reach Lime Tree Farm, we were greeted with a cup of tea, heated on the log burner and a big cookie.
Bit scared I was going to be trying beetles and roots that I'd never seen before. So a bit of a relief (wasn't going to need the emergency rations in the car)...

The day then got off the ground in the Round House, a replica of a time long passed.  We were shown how to breathe. Sounds crazy, but living in a fast life with juggling a business, family, and seeing the world through a laptop and a phone screen or car window. The phone was turned off, and this was my time...  I began to feel relaxed and breathe in a way I can only imagine a Tibetan monk might be doing.

The start of mindfulness, all the external thoughts of who needs calling, how many emails need answering, all simply disappeared. I felt contentment, a feeling, to be honest, I'm not familiar with.
And so the day continued with a calmness that I hadn't experienced since childhood.
Lighting the fire pit, with no matches, encouraging the sparks to catch. Designing the start of the woodland path and putting in the 1st step... Walk through the woods, Time under the great tree. Talk of a vow of silence we would be doing at the end of the day, in the mystical stone circle...

Driving home, after what I can only describe as one of the most peaceful days. Thinking how can I put into words what today meant?
"I planted a tree", just doesn't cut it.

I am planning to return. Maybe next time for a weekend...

A huge thank you, to Darrell, Dave and Tony... New friends 💓

Hi,
My review of Solo days at Lime tree farm:
“I found the Solo day at Lime tree farm very welcoming, set in a beautiful countryside of Yorkshire miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Even the drive was a lovely experience. I enjoyed the set up of the program from meditation in the tepee, walking down wooden benches, the jungle and the swings where I connected with my inner child. It’s an experiential program; you have to be there to feel it. I loved it…enjoyed the company too. Had a brilliant dinner cooked over a wood fire and a lovely breakfast with the owners.
Very peaceful and idyllic, could spend a weekend connecting with nature, myself and my higher power”.

Mubashir Khan. August 2017.

Thank you for inviting me to the retreat. It gave me time to think and get away from the stresses at work.
I enjoyed doing practical things helping out around the farm and not having to use my brain for a change.
I found being around nature was so relaxing.
I haven't been back for a few weeks now, due to life commitment but I still have the longing to be back there.
Hopefully, I will soon be able to come back.

Thanks, Dave Allen. 25/8/2017

Review Solo day.23rd February 2019.

The start of the day was the preparation of the site e.g. getting the fire going and gathering twigs and branches etc and using our skills and instincts to feed ourselves and keep warm as I was still chilly. Once that was done we set up the roundhouse for the Meditation session. A Tibetan meditation bowl was used which these items had an interesting story by themselves as to how they ended up being at Lime tree farm. This made this time even more special for me.
We did the meditation which was the best and deepest I’ve ever done and it lasted longer for me than my previous visits here which in turn brought more serenity and acceptance of life than I have ever known. I am grateful for this and I can use these skills in daily life. The session was just what I needed and I feel I have a stronger connection to my Higher Power and to God than ever before.
After this, we had food that had been cooked on the outside range and a lovely pot of tea.
We then went up to the main area of the buildings and we helped one of the other wonderful visitors to Lime tree farm. It’s great to be with like-minded friends who help one another when needed.
The last part of the day was tidying the fences around the Roundhouse which I enjoyed. We then went for the hours silence in the stone circle but I only managed thirty minutes as I have a physical disability.
This is my third visit to Lime tree farm with ABC and Solo days but I get so much spiritual growth here. I have made a commitment to go up and help and participate as often as I can. This is such a beautiful place.

Thank you. Marie K.
